The Calcutta Chromosome

Abstractions, in Black, White And Other Colors....

Kolkata has been an exponent of the British-Raj culture. The history of Princep Ghat dates back to 1841. And this Palladian porch built in the memory of Anglo-Indian scholar James Princep on the bank of Hooghly, stands as a landmark.

The making of the clouds and their breaking into showers might not be that monotonous sight when you have vast open sky overhead.

Riverside stories of the evening, adda with friends...

An early morning fishing scene on the Hooghly.

The ferry service across the Hooghly bridges the link between the two banks. Commuters wait eagerly for ferries to arrive. Here’s one of them.

Aren’t we all a half-devotee????

The city exhibits its grandeur across the river.

Cycles, not the fancy ones though, are enough to explore the lanes and by-lanes around the city.

Since the Pre-Independence era, Politics have always been a topic of interest for the citizens. Decking up with posters and bills is a common tradition of the city before an impending election.

At Kumartuli or the potter’s town. Life gets sculpted out of mud and hay.

The South park street cemetery is the oldest Christian cemetery grounds in Kolkata.

One takes off and others prepares to launch.

And then, you shall have a thousand reasons to leave... but there would still be one to come back...
